Antonio da Correggio – “The Adoration Of The Shepherds” 1530
An amazingly beautiful painting of the natal scene. I remember when I first found out that a manger wasn’t really a fancy cradle for Jesus. I was in my Granddad’s barn, and he told me to put the hay that had fallen into the manger. When I saw what he was pointing at, I told him that was no manger, it was a feed trough. That got a ton of teasing when we went back to the house, but it was the first time I realized that Jesus was really born in a barn.
